October 17, 2019, is International Credit Union Day! It’s a big deal at CPS IBEW Federal Credit Union and the nearly 56,000 credit unions around the world, so we want you to celebrate with us. Stop by one of our two San Antonio locations and enter a drawing for a $50 Visa gift card when you open a new account. We’ll also waive new member fees for the day!
Did you know that as a CPS IBEW FCU member, you’re joined by 200+ million people around the world who’ve been touched by the not-for-profit cooperative spirit that all credit unions share?
All around the globe, credit unions have created life-changing opportunities for members to start businesses, own homes, and continue education even for those who have been denied by other financial institutions. In fact, some people’s first taste of democracy is through their credit union, where “one member, one vote” is the governing structure.
That’s a lot to celebrate!
As you come by for a treat October 17, we’d love for you to also help us kick off our own local service project: our annual Food & Fund Drive benefiting the San Antonio Food Bank.
The San Antonio Food Bank reaches one of the largest areas in Southwest Texas, serving 58,000 individuals each week. That’s because hunger is hidden all around us, in the most unexpected places. Did you know that in Bexar County, one in four children don’t know where they will find their next meal? And that many working families struggle with hunger? Nearly half of the San Antonio Food Bank’s clients are households with at least one working adult.
Seniors, single-parent households, veterans, and the homeless join these vulnerable neighbors on the San Antonio Food Bank’s valued service base. The Food Bank needs our help this season to ensure all receive the food and caring they deserve.
October 17 through November 22, you can do your part by bringing canned goods and donations into your closest CPS IBEW Federal Credit Union location.
