Protect Yourself From Jugging
Jugging is a type of theft in which criminals watch members leave banks, credit union, or ATMs after making cash withdraws.
They may follow you and wait for an opportunity to steal your cash- either from you or from you vehicle.
After making a cash withdraw, Follow these safety tips:
Keep it out of sight- Do not leave the Credit Union carrying cash or a Credit Union envelop where it can easily be seen. Secure it in a purse, bag, pocket, or other concealed location before you walk outside.
Look Around- Before leaving take a moment to look for anyone who appears to be watching members or sitting suspiciously in a nearby vehicle.
Don’t leave in your vehicle- Avoid leaving withdrawn cash, or Credit Union envelopes or other valuables unattended-even for a quick stop.
Pay attention to who’s behind you- Be aware of vehicles that appear to follow you through several turns or continue following you after you leave the area.
Trust your instincts- If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. Your awareness is your best protection.
If you think your being followed Remember
Do not confront the suspect. Criminals look for easy opportunities.
Drive to a police station or a busy, well-lit public location and call 911. Keep cash concealed
Provide the dispatcher with your location and,if possible, the suspect Stay aware of your surroundings
vehicles make, model, color, license plate, and direction of travel.
